How and why was silk invented?

Answer:
Silk has long been used in China to weave. A legend tells that a ruler's wife noticed silk worms eating her prized tree. She pulled one of the silk worms cocoons off a branch and droped it into a pot of boiling water. The silk unwove, and the wife suessessfully weaved it. That is how silk was invented.

"Why" is a obvesios question because silk is soooo wonderful and soft!
