Best Answer

The grapes are crushed and the run off jucie is left to ferment, creating alcohol, when the fermentation is completed the wine is now fined and filtered and can be left in oak to mature or can be bottled straight away, most red are aged in oak for a period and some whites are.

Please be aware that this is a very simplified answer, the full answer would just be too long as there are so many variables, the winemaker has choices at almost every step!

They are picked by hand, using a pair of heavy shears to cut the groups off the vine. They are then washed and crushed, the juices being run off into vats for processing into wine. vinegar or used to make juices and jellies.

They are grown on rows of vines that grow on grape stakes. About this time of year the little grapes start to bud and they grow most of the summer until they crop is ready to pick. They are picked by hand. If they are to become raisins they are laid out on brown paper so the sun can dry them and they are turned every day so they dry even and not mold. If any rain happens at that time the crop is usually in trouble and the farmer looses his crop. Table grapes are grown the same way, but they are put into boxes while in the field and taken to market.
