Roller coasters use physics, forces, motion and energy.
Well it's powered by electricity as it goes up but once it goes back down it's gravity that's moving it and when you go up slopes that aren't as high momentum is used to get it up. Hope this helps....
It rolls and it coasts. It's a very literal name.
