potential energy is any type of energy but just stored. It could be sound, light or electricity. kinetic energy could be kinetic potential energy (stored movement energy) or energy of something that is currently moving.

Hope that helps.

Kinetic energy: is the energy of a mass that has velocity(moving in a direction)

-basically the energy an object has while moving.

Potential energy: Is the energy stored by a body due the body's position, electrical charge, due to other factors.

Potential Energy is at rest and Kinetic Energy is in motion, but it is still the same energy.
kinetic energy arises due to the motion of particles while potential energy is due to the position of particles.

1. Potential energy is the energy gained by an object in respect with height. Kinetic energy is the energy gained by the virtue of its motion. Both are very different from each other.

PE is the 'stored' energy that is given to a substance that can be released (i.e. it has a potential to release that energy into other forms). That can be chemical, heat or, with respect to the original questions, height. Actually this is called Gravitational Potential Energy (MGH) and is the energy given to an object that is lifted (or held) above the surface of something that has gravitational pull over it - i.e. the Earth.

If an object is released, say dropped from a window, it has maximum PE (gPE) but as it falls, it acceleartes towards the ground, KE increases (gPE reduces in equal measure) until just as it hits the ground, it has lost all its gPE and picked up the maximum KE given the distance (KE=(1/2)MV^2).

How are potential kinetic energy different from each other?

Difference is that kinetic energy is the energy of motion and potential is stored energy.

Of the 7 different forms of energy which are potential and which are kinetic?

Potential energy is because of height. Kinetic energy is because of motion.

How is potentil energy different from kinetic energy?

Kinetic energy is the energy of motion (like running around a playground) while potential energy is the energy of position (such as the "energy" of a pendulum at the top of its swing).

What are the two types of mechanical energy?

Potential energy and kinetic energy. mechanical energy is the energy of motion(kinetic energy)or the potential of motion(potential energy) so i would say-kinetic and potential energy

What are the two main forms of energy?

The two main forms of energy are Kinetic energy and Potential Energy. Kinetic energy is motion energy. Potential energy is energy stored in matter.

Why do particles have potential and kinetic energy?

Yes, as this equation makes it possible E=mc^2 . ------------> mass energy is different from potential energy An object has kinetic and potential energy (such as a falling apple) because commonly kinetic energy is converted to potential energy and vice versa due to conservation of energy. The sum of kinetic and potential energy needs to be taken for the total energy of the object.

Is potential energy different than kinetic energy?

The energy stored in a body due to its motion is called kinetic energy. The energy stored in a body due to its position (height) or shape is called potential energy. So a body at rest may have potential energy but it has no kinetic energy.

An avalanche demonstrates what kind of energy conversion?

Gravitational potential energy to kinetic energy

What is the total kinetic energy and potential energy?

It is the sum of potential and kinetic energy.

What are the two basic types of energy?

There are two main types of energy which is kinetic and potential energy.. Kinetic energy is an energy associated with motion.. while the potential energy is an energy stored with the position of an object, or its chemical composition.

How does Kinetic and Potential energy relate to Pendulums in different ways?

Maximum kinetic energy occurs at the bottom of the swing. Maximum potential energy occurs at the top of the swing.

If an object's mechanical energy is equal to its potential energy how much kinetic energy does it have?

Mechanical Energy= Potential energy+ Kinetic energy, so for the mechanical energy to be equal to be potential energy, the kinetic energy must be 0.
