People choose a party based upon family ties. 2 out of 3 people choose the political party of their parents. People also chose a party based upon work experience. When politics directly affect a person's job experience, they tend to align themselves with the party that will help make their jobs better. A person's religion can direct their party allegiance. Many religions push one way or another as to whatever party supports the church's point of view. Finally it could be a social reason as to why people chose a party. Friends can influence what a person believes and what issues they want to support.

People are affected by the politics of the area in which they live. To Broaden this out a bit, individuals in any nation are affected by politics in that nation. Here we should give a few examples:

A. In the USA, political decisions made by policy makers can increase or decrease income taxes. By doing so, it either allows the individual to have more or less money; and

B. In the USA, political decisions by policy makers in the Federal Government can re introduce conscription ( draft laws ). People of draft age may have to totally change their lives if they are drafted into the army.

These are only 2 of thousands of ways politics affect people here in the USA and in every other country.
