all literature is a reflection of reality; an abstraction of reality. The common themes we find in literature--love, death, jeliousy, social norms, politics, consumerism, disillusionment, greed, lust--are are common aspects of the world we live in.

What are some themes in books?

Themes are like "Good will win" "You can do it if you try " "Love is powerful" "Friendship is all you need" Survival is not a theme, because it is only an idea for a story. While surviving, the character could discover he cannot survive alone or it is difficult to survive because the world is cruel. Those are examples of themes. Answer2: Themes are ideas or subjects etc., and can be as numerous as your imagination. Examples are , Why is there so much injustice? What are keys to being successful?, How to find true happiness? Anyway, take the position that your theme is the particular "viewpoint" from which you develop your subject. In order to give proper emphasis to the theme, you must lay the foundation when selecting and organizing your material. If you use only what supports your theme and if you follow the principles in preparing a good outline, you will almost automatically emphasize the theme. What is the best definition of the term theme as it relates to works of literature?

A theme is a lesson learned, like the hidden message or point the author is trying to get across in writing. There may be more than one theme in a novel, play, or movie, but usually there is an overriding main theme that sort of ties all the aspects of the story together.

What does convey the themes mean?

To 'convey' is like 'to get the point across' or 'to show'and 'themes' in literature are universal ideas that literature and other forms of the arts often strive to portray. Each book or novel will often have 3 or more obvious and important themes. For example Romeo and Juliet has the themes of "Fate" "Love and Violence" and "The Individual VS Society"The author conveys these themes by including different situations within the play to show examples of these plights. The "Individual VS Society" is conveyed in the way that Romeo wishes to be with Juliet but can't because of his family and societal pressure (think Pocahontas) Juliet is in the same boat only with her family rooted against Romeo. The idea of "Fate" is conveyed in the "Star-Crossed Lovers" line, and a variety of "Omens" and "Signs" throughout the play."Love and Violence" is a huge theme as well (West Side Story etc.) Fighting for love, fighting to win the one you love and so forth. There is a great deal of tragedy and bloodshed for Romeo and Juliet to be together, but this is really nothing new. (A universal theme). So, themes can realistically be anything that can be related to others lives and genres and they are conveyed by authors through either character development and plot-line.

How are themes in literature like themes in the real world?

Themes in literature, like themes in the real world, are central ideas that explore universal truths or concepts. Both can reflect aspects of human experience, provoke thought, and provide insight into our emotions, relationships, and society. Themes in literature often draw inspiration from real-world events, experiences, and issues, creating connections between the fictional and the actual.

Can you list the similarities and differences between themes and morals in literature?

Themes and moral can be the same in the literature but their definitions are different. Theme is simply an outline, topic or a message of a plot of the literature. For example a theme can be 'A mother who would sacrifice for their children.' But as you can see, this is not a moral statement. A general theme is the main message on the entire story while sub-theme usually refers to other themes contain in the literature. Take Harry Potter for example. The general theme is 'the importance of love' as that is what the entire Harry Potter series mostly revolved on. The sub-themes are like 'battle between good and evil', 'the importance of education', 'courage is crucial in overcoming challenges'. Moral are moral statement, principles or values hidden in the literature so that readers can capture it and apply it. Example using Harry Potter again, 'Courage', 'Importance of love' (as you can see it is similar to theme), 'Loyal to friends', 'Determination' and etc. Again, you can actually use the same statement for both moral and themes because they are both messages in the literature. But it is useful to note the differences. A tip is that moral statement can be use as a theme but not all themes are moral statements. hope i helped
