On the onw website I fond and after a little research I have found that the worlds largest hailstone was found in Aurora, Nebraska and it measured over 10 inches in width but that was only about half of it because some of it broke off when it hit the ground and some melted before it could be measured. It's circumference was over 18 inches and its weight was roughly about 5 pounds.
A new official record for the largest hailstone ever recovered in the United States was set in 2003. In Aurora, Nebraska, a hailstone was recovered on June 22, with a record 7-inch diameter and a circumference of 18.75 inches.
The old record for the largest hailstone had a diameter of 5.7 inches, a circumference of 17.5 inches and was found in Coffeyville, Kansas on September 3, 1970. A link to the full story appears below.
A record was set in Vivian, South Dakota in 2010! On July 23, a stone 8 inches in diameter, 18.62 inches in circumference, and weighing 1.93 pounds.
