The best way to do so is to spray some Windex onto a paper towel and get it damp (but not so wet that it is dripping) and wipe the screen with that. If you are concerned about potentially scratching the screen (though in my career of nearly 30 years, I have never seen a paper towel scratch a screen), you may use a microfiber cloth.
For some spots that seem to be stuck on so much that you need to let the fluid "soak" for a bit, a trick that I often use is to open the screen to 90 degrees or so from the keyboard and then tip the laptop so that the back lid (the case on the back of the screen) is flat against the table and the other half of the laptop is sticking up in the air. Make sure that the laptop is well-supported in this position, however, since the tendency will be for the "business end" of the laptop to return to the table itself. I generally use a stack of hardcover books or heavier phone books (such as the big thick phone books from metropolitan areas). Spray the Windex onto the stubborn areas and let it sit for a minute or so in order for the liquid to dissolve as much of the sticky stuff as possible, then wipe as normal with a paper towel or microfiber cloth.
My advice is against water, especially soapy water since water tends to evaporate more slowly and therefore can be much more damaging if it does get into the spaces under the edges of the LCD screen. On top of that, soap can leave a residue on the screen that will distort the images that you see.
I hope all this helps. If you have any other questions, feel free to drop me a line.
I have found the best cleaner for computer screens is Monster Screen Clean. You can find it at Best Buys....it is real good cleaner and can be used for all screens, including TV.
Use a straw
After you buy the best 17 inch laptop computer that you can find, you do not want to ruin it by using water to clean the screen. Water can destroy the computer. You must purchase a special cleaning solution that is made up of agents that will not hurt the screen or the electronics. When you have this, you can be sure that your computer will not be damaged as you make the screen look its best.

You can vacuum the keyboard and wipe down the rest of the laptop with a computer safe cleanser.
You don't download a virus to "clean" a laptop or any other computer. To properly clean it you simply reformat it
Laptop screen wipes are definitely worth buying. Not only do they clean fingerprints and other marks off of screens, they also do so safely and without damaging the delicate material of the screen.
"Cleaning a touchscreen laptop is difficult because you need to be sure not to make any scratches. They sell special microfiber cloths that are guaranteed not to scratch the surface, and you can wipe the screen down with these and a little windex if the screen is very dirty."
I will not recommend using the Windex because it has alochol in it that will not be good for your computer screen or any LCD devices or TV..
The monitor is the screen of the computer which displays the interaction the user is having with the computer. It is important that the monitor is kept clean, and know the proper way to clean it.
A sweeper with soft brush for the plastic and computer wipes for the screen.
