It is most likely a type of abuse which is categorized in Jungian psychology by the phrase 'negative mother complex'. This mother would try to keep you very close and never want you to grow up. She would be very manipulative and controlling. The very worst thing that you could do in her eyes would be to marry and move on with your life.
