It depends on the type of system you have. 1 pipe in, or 1 pipe in and 1 pipe out. Single pipe in/out, try replacing the relief valve or simply shimming the end of the radiator opposite where the pipe comes in. This lets water bleed out of the radiator and stops the klanging.
The function of steam stop valve to supply steam to steam maniform and the function safety valve to prevent the steam high pressure over.
If the smoke is coming from the electric fan itself, then it needs replacing. It could be the smoke is steam that the fan is drawing from the radiator, and you have a coolant leak at the radiator.
radiator bluesWhen the water runs out of the radiator, it either means that the radiator is cracked, which means that its building steam inside your radiator. building the steam inside your radiator raises the temperature of your engine causing it to overheat and steam up on you.Depending upon where the water is coming from, the solution could be as simple as tightening or replacing the radiator cap, or tightening or replacing the drain plug,or tightening hose clamps. Check those things before proceeding.
I have used radiator stop leak before in my 1996 Olds Achieva SC with the V6. I put it directly into the coolant resovor. It went in fine for me. This did not give me much help though. I would not recommend using stop leak. It will clog your heater core and then you will have more than the radiator as your problem. Fine a new radiator and replace it that is the best advidce i can give you.
It may NOT be a leaky radiator. However, you may wish to check your upper and lower radiator hoses and tighten all of the fittings (if necessary), and also trace the hoses all the way down to where they meet the engine. Be on the look-out for dry-rot and be looking for spots that might be bulging out. The bulging spots could indicate that the hose is ready to burst. It is best to conduct this inspection while the vehicle IS running and HAS BEEN running for a few minutes so that it is warmed up. BE SURE to be VERY careful because radiator hoses are HOT, and engine compartments are intentionally small. P.s: IF you can identify to the location and actually SEE the steam coming directly from your radiator, then yes, you DO have leak in your radiator.
Bleed the accumulated air out of the system. I did it twice a year, to improve heating efficiency, and eliminate banging noises.
Never
Steam radiator valves should always be fully open, or fully closed. Steam enters the radiator from the boiler, and fills the radiator. The air vent shuts, having sensed moisture inside the radiator. The steam then cools, condenses to water, and drains from the radiator. If you leave a valve partially open, then the steam enters easily, because of the pressure. But, the water has a difficult time draining, so the radiator can collect it, and steals it from the furnace, which needs it for resupply.

There are plenty of ways a car can break down without the radiator being a part of the cause. As for the reason you'd see steam from a radiator, it would escape if there was a leak in the radiator or the hoses, or if the cap was opened. The contents in a radiator are very hot - hot enough to produce steam.
you can stop team steam when you stop it
When your radiator fails in a car, your car will overheat. Sometimes it will explode with steam. Usually you lose your radiator coolant. Often you will have to replace your radiator.
It is very doubtful that it is smoke. It is most likely steam. Either there is a pinhole leak in the radiator allowing hot coolant to escape that then vaporizes into steam when it hits the atmosphere... or there is something spilled on the radiator that steams when the radiator gets hot. Have the radiator pressure tested for leaks.
by not banging it on something very thick
A radiator is defective if fluids are leaking out of the radiator or there is a leak of steam. Or, if thecore is blocked, the radiator will remain cold or just slightly warm in places.
