Parents are responsible financially for a 17 year old in Michigan who voluntarily moves out of the house unless the teen is completely emancipated. Teens can be partially emancipated, which means parents can still be responsible for certain things.

A child under the age of 18 cannot move out their parents house without either permission or emancipation. If the child moves, law enforcement officers would bring the child back home.
As long as the parents are OK with this nothing happens. If it breaks the custody order though and the custodial parent did not agree to this, the police can come and take you back while the non-custodial parent can get into legal trouble for not sending you home.
