When a wire has an electric current run through it it produces a magnetic feild.
A coil of wire (also called a selonoid) produces a strong magnetic feild perpindicular to the turns of wire when a current is run through it.
This is also known as electric magnet.
Its also worthy to note that speakers work based off of this concept
First, you get a long wire (12 inches). Then, you get a nail and wrap the wire around the nail, but leave at least 1 inch of wire on each side. The use the ends of the wire and put it on the big magnet and it will pick up magnetic things.
Since the resistance of ordinary wire is so small, a large current (Amps) flows in the coil. It most likely stresses the power supply, and the wire most likely gets hot. But as long as the hook-up lasts, you've got a significant magnetic field inside the coil. You can pick up pins, needles, and paper clips with it, and shoot nails through the center along the axis of the coil when the DC is switched on.
i am pretty sure the size of nail doesn't matter.
some guy drop nail on the ground and pick it up but the nail staid on the magnet
AMPERAGE
to transfer the energy passes from the wire so that the nail able to pick up the paper clips
could be.... coil ... coil wire or... pick up coil.. not working
Electromagnets work when copper coil is wrapped around a nail and connected to a cell and turned on, the electrons travelling through the wire create a magnetic field allowing you to pick things like nails up.
Replace the ECU.
which end of a magnet will pick up an iron nail?
The computer uses the pick up plate in the distributor to know when to activated the coil to cause a spark to go down the coil wire to the distributor cap and through the cap and rotor to an individual plug wire to the spark plug. The computer uses the pick up plate in the distributor to know when to activated the coil to cause a spark to go down the coil wire to the distributor cap and through the cap and rotor to an individual plug wire to the spark plug.
When both positive and Negative charged wire ends touch it. (Try it, it's fun)
NO it does not. If it's not firing then you need to check the ignition module, pick-up coil and the coil. Could just have a bad coil wire......

how to changr pick up coil 88 vandura
Are you sure the pick up is good? If your not sure replace it. You can check the ohms on the pick up coil they should be between 500 and 1500. Check the rotor button for a hole burnt in it. Check the coil and coil wire. WHAT THE HECK R U PPLS TALKING ABOUT???
