∙ 14y agoThe White House internship program provides young people with an opportunity to volunteer their time, but the requirements limit the general population's eligibility. Those applying to the internship program must be citizens of the United States, be at least 18 years old prior to the internship starting date and meet one of the following sets of criteria:
- Active student enrolled in an undergraduate or a graduate program at a college, community college or university
- Recent graduate (within the past two years) of an undergraduate or graduate program at a college, community college or university
- Veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces who is a high school graduate or GED recipient and has actively served sometime in the past two years
Assuming you meet the above criteria there is a competitive process to further narrow the pool to the few who are actually offered the internship. See related links for the application and some more information on the process.
There are other opportunities to volunteer for specific events, most notably to help decorate the Annual Christmas Tree.

∙ 13y agoI'm afraid you don't. If you're going to decorate the White House someone has to approach you.
You can't just volunteer. You'll end up with the Secret Service running full back ground checks on you, your family, and everyone you've ever been in contact with.
So, I'm afraid that you probably won't get a chance to decorate the White House.
The above answer is not true.....You may call the White House and ask which florists will be decorating at Christmas.
You may also write the Chief of Staff or the First Lady and give a reason why you would like to help.
