We can reduce our production of new carbon dioxide in many ways, all of which involve burning less coal, oil and natural gas. Whenever we reduce our consumption of electricity or motor fuel, we contribute to reducing the world production of carbon dioxide.
We can help by replacing incandescent light globes by high efficiency one, by turning off appliances when not in use, by using air-conditioning less, even by installing insulation in your home.
We can help reduce carbon dioxide emissions from transport by: using public transport more, buying a smaller car next time, using biofuels where possible.
There are common lifestyle changes that can change the amount humans produce:
Drive less
Stop using air conditioning or electrical appliances
Eat local produce so they are not transported
Use less heat in your home
Reducing our emissions of CO2 could be performed by the elimination of air conditioning and heating of homes, the removal of television, Internet and lighting in our dwellings and stop producing things that extend human life and their enjoyment.
Human carbon emissions occur mostly when
fossil fuel (coal, oil and natural gas) is burnt. We burn fossil fuel in transport and for producing electricity. Coal fired power stations are the worst emitters of carbon dioxide.
To stop carbon emissions we have to improve and invent new ways of generating electricity. Solar, wind, hydro, geothermal and tidal and wave energy are all renewable sources of energy being used around the world. Hydro is the only large generator at the moment.
When the world has reliable renewable sources of energy, then all vehicles can be powered by clean electricity and oil can be saved for other uses, like making plastics. Coal will be left in the ground as it it too dirty to use.
There are many small ways that we can contribute to this, because we can't wait till all power is renewable. We have to start now to try and slow carbon emissions:
Using less electricity:- Turn off appliances at the wall instead of with a remote.
- Wash dishes and clothes only when the machine is full.
- Use the wind and sun to dry clothes.
- Turn off all power when leaving a room, that is, computer, lights, music, everything.
- Wear more clothes when cold rather than turn up the heat.
- Wear fewer clothes when hot rather than turn up the air conditioning.
Reduce oil in transport- Use cars less
- car pool
- take a bike
- walk
- take public transport
- take the train, not the plane.
Planting more trees is an effort some countries are undertaking. This doesn't reduce emissions from industries or vehicles, but trees do absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and release oxygen.
