How can plants without soil grow?

Can plants grow without soil....yeah of course. E.g; cress,moss and water lillies, those are really the most obvious plants that can grow without soil. the three main things plants need to grow is OXYGEN, WATER and SUNLIGHT, soil is only really needed for support. these plants get there nutrians from irrigation systems ask anyone if it can it can SAID LITHOBUTTCHMAN
