Carp can get very big and are known to be very tough fighters and have become an unofficial sports fish in many areas. Because they re mostly considered a rough fish they can be fished any time of the year in most jurisdictions which adds to their appeal. Another part of the fishing for carp is chumming the areas they frequent (their swims) some people visit days in advance of the fishing trip to spread grains or corn in the water to keep the fish coming back.
