How can you become more flexible to help you in ballet?

I used to have your same problem, the answer is dedication.
you have to really want to become more flexible and be willing
to work through the pain.
excersizes:
1: for your side split lay on your back and put your butt up against the wall, than let your legs fall to both sides and hold for 45 sec. and build off of that than holding for 50 sec. than 55 sec. and so on. but becareful over streching can be dangerous,
