Jewelry Cleaners
Connoisseurs has quick, easy, no mess, silver and gold jewelry cleaners in a dip or gel. It is affordable and can be found at stores like Wal-Mart. If the preference is to use household products, Linda Cobb, the author of Talking Dirty with the Queen of Clean, recommends the following for silver jewelry and silver cutlery: Put aluminum foil in a large bowl. Place silver on top, then cover with boiling water. Add 3 tablespoons of baking soda. Soak for 10 minutes, rinse and dry.
A good, but safe way to clean gold and diamond jewelry is to soak the items in a solution of very warm water with a small amount of ammonia added. Soak for about 10 - 15 minutes, then gently scrub the jewelry with an old toothbrush. A good way to get in the tiny crevices of jewelry is to use a Water Pic. It gets in the areas that the brush can't reach. After cleaning, rinse the items well, and dry with lint free towel or paper towel.
