Part of his religious beliefs is that children should respect their parents. If you want to look good in his eyes, you need to respect him and encourage your girlfriend to respect him as well. Very simple: Inform him of your desire to convert. Study the Catechism and Catholic teaching with him. Attend mass with them when you can. Convince him of your sincerity. I am by no means advocating actually converting, but if he perceives that you are serious about becoming Catholic, he should become far more amenable to you seeing his daughter socially. If her father is so closed minded, is she really worth it? She is likely to side with him in the long run no matter how in love you think you are. Blood is thicker than water. Don't 'convert' if you dont want to or if you feel forced to remember its just a belief system.
