How can you find out if the man you are dating wants children without scaring him off?In: Dating |
Ask him
If people are only casually dating or merely dating as a social activity, then mentioning children -- in just about any context -- is a real wet blanket. There is simply no way to bring up the subject subtly. If, however, people are seriously dating -- that is, if they are dating to find a future spouse -- then it's reasonable to broach the subject of children pretty early on in the dating process. What's the point of investing one's time in a relationship that doesn't have the future you desire?
So, you should not be concerned about "scaring off" guys who would be inclined to end a relationship at the mere mention of children, because clearly guys like that are not in the same place you are. In fact, it's in your best interest to scare those fellows off as early as possible so you don't waste your time and theirs -- and to avoid possible heartbreak.
