There are lots of good psychiatrists right in your own backyard. You can see your GP and ask for a good psychiatrist or you can phone any hospital to find out who is the best.
I wish you had emphasized a little more on your wife's condition because if she is anywhere from 38 up she could be going into peri menopause (can cause moodiness) and if she is 40 or up she could be in menopause. It wasn't that too long ago (back in the 50s) when women were put into institutions during menopause simply because the medical profession didn't understand or try to understand that a woman does go through hormonal changes during this time of her life and she is not crazy! With todays modern medicine there are medications for depression and Hormone Replacement is not often recommended because of the high risk of heart attacks, strokes, blood clots and heart problems. There is good homeopathic medicines that can help this.
Be sure your wife is labeled correctly with her diagnosis and it's best to see if she will agree to have a full physical by your GP.
