I have collected many stories of my birth parents. they are both not alive, that is of the reason I was adopted by a family that is not related to my birth parents. I want closure about all of this. It is a tragic way both my parents and all the siblings born the same moment I was born. My adoptive mother told me that she is not my mother. My adoptive father gave me hints and told me to use them to find where I belong.... My story is of many grievance's and of a lot of other peoples resentments and discrimination's since the end of the second world war and of cause during Ike. It is a lot of years now and I am a parent of adult children. I have no money to find my answers of my being adopted, but I do have an interesting story of how much I am living through due to the predators of my being a foundling that was adopted. So you see it is extremely important for me to find the papers of this. YOU can e-mail your questions and replys to: www.smallstage.loner113happy@gmail.com How do I find and open to me the closed files and records of my birth parents an who they really are along with my adoption records. I have my birth certificate from my adoptive parents with their family name of marriage.

Where can you see if your child was adopted by a stepmother?

You would be notified if there is any court proceeding involving the adoption of your biological child unless your parental rights have already been terminated. In that case you need to ask the father since adoption records are generally sealed. You would be notified if there is any court proceeding involving the adoption of your biological child unless your parental rights have already been terminated. Can a person access information of an adopted sibling?

It depends on the type of information. Often, adoption records are sealed and can only be accessed by the adopted child and both sets of parents.

What does records purged and sealed mean?

It means that whatever records are being referred to had had information removed AND they were sealed. Reply by Darren Chaker: To purge is to remove. Consider 'purging' information as deleting it from a database. To seal is to keep from public access, but is available to unseal if the one of very few reasons exist, do in fact exist. Otherwise, the sealed records are sealed forever. In California, the law provides broad power to determine what should be sealed if in the absence of specific law. For example, juvenile records must be sealed and destroyed upon the court granting the petition, adoption records must sealed by statute as well. Darren Chaker

What types of adoption are there?

There are many types of adoption including international and local. There is also Open and private adoptions. An Open adoption is when the biological parent(s) are allowed visitation with the child. A private adoption is like when a child is turned over into the chosen adopted family right after birth and the biological parent(s) have no contact with the child.

In Florida is it illegal for the birth mother to put the adoptive mother's name on the birth certificate?

Yes. It is illegal to falsify information on a legal document. The information you provide on the birth certificate must be accurate. An original birth certificate is issued before an adoption and it shows the identity of the biological parents. That record is sealed until opened by a court order. An amended birth certificate is then issued with the names of the adoptive parents and that becomes the child's official birth record in the public records.

When can you search for your biological parents if you have been adopted?

Yes, there is no law against it unless the adoption record was sealed by a court order. Even then it can get done, but its a delicate legal issue - theres no straight answer. There are several excellent books on the subject and internet sites dedicated to free assistance for adopted children understanding the laws involved.

Where can one give their baby up for adoption?

Contact a local adoption agency. They can arrange prospective adoptive parents and meeting to discuss the options you have regarding the idea. You can also talk to the hospital social worker where you have your baby. They are trained to help you not only in making your decision, but also in helping you decide if you want an open adoption (one where the child can find you when he or she is grown) or a closed adoption (one where the records will be sealed). In addition, they work with various adoption agencies, and will be able to help you in deciding which one to use. Answer also: Please contact your local Social Services department they will be more than happy to give you information.

The birth mother was in drug rehab and her mother and sister had her sign custody papers she found out later they were adoption papers Can this be overturned?

Maybe. In the United States adoption is a state matter. The laws of adoption and fraud vary from state to state. The laws concerning having someone giving up rights while in a mental institution also vary. The time periods between the time when adoption proceedings start and when the court finalizes them also vary. Now we get to a particular. In this state if you signed your child over to your sister, it can be overturned. If you turned your child over to an adoption agency, they had a lawyer draw up the papers. Their records are sealed. It would probably take a court order to open their records. That would be difficult to get. If you signed the papers more than six months ago, then the adoption is final. You could still challenge the adoption. The court would determine which family would be best for the child. Would the child be better off in a middle class home in a middle class neighborhood with two stable hard working church going parents or would the child be better off with a drug addict for a mother. The concerns of the child would then come first, not the desires of the biological mother. The bottom line is that she needs to consult with an attorney who specializes in custody and adoption as soon as possible.

Does your children have to be 18 years old before you can look for them once adopted?

This information would vary widely from state to state. There is no all-encompassing federal law which covers this. In many states adoption records are sealed regardless of any desiire to access them.

Where do you find your mom if you're adopted?

There are a lot of factors involved in this. Was the adoption open, or was it sealed? Was it a foreign or domestic adoption? Was it a private adoption or through the state1. If the adoption was sealed, you're going to have to go through the courts to get anything. You may be limited as to how much information you can get, if any. If it was open, there may be info available (names, SSN, possibly other identifying information)2. If it's a foreign adoption, you're going to need to follow up with adoption agency. They may be able to put you in touch with people in the country you were adopted from. There may be little or no info available.3a. For a private adoption, you were probably adopted as an infant and have no memory of your birth family. You'll need to get in touch with the agency that you were adopted from, and possibly the courts to get at your adoption records.3b. If you were adopted through the state, you may have been adopted late enough to have memories that will help you track them down... extended family, or names that you can google, or look for on facebook. Otherwise see 3a.
