Hey Amber==It is hard to say what is wrong with the door. It depends on what kind of car it is on but I would take it to a mechanic who knows about doors. GoodluckJoe
Unlock it.
how do you fix a prosthetic leg that the release screw wont go all the way down in to the socket
First you need to know what is wrong with it before you can fix it.
you just have to push up on the latch
Remove door panel and replace latch mechanism
To fix a car door that is sprung due to a bent or damaged hinge, the best thing to do is replace the hinge. If the hinge is welded and not bolted to the vehicle, the entire door will have to be replaced.
You have to take the door apart
Have you tryed to put a screwdriver in the "hole" where the door striker would go and as you pull the handle up push the screwdriver out. As if you were going throught the motions of the door opening but the screwdriver acts as the striker.
Did you find a resolution to this?
There is a sensor (usually located on the inside of the door frame) that needs to be pressed in to let the car know that the door is closed. Try pressing and holding the door shut to see if the dome light turns off. If it does and you let go of the door, then the button is not being engaged. Maybe it is stuck. Use some WD-40 on it. As for the stuck door, take off the door panel and spray WD-40 on it to make it easier on the door lock mechanism to operate.
I'm taking a guess that your door latch stuck because it's cold , if so , pull your door release lever on the inside of the door and see if you can move the latching mechanism on the end of the door with a screwdriver or anything that will keep you from getting grease on your fingers
There is usually a label stuck to some part of the driver's door or door opening that tells the year that the car was made.
