Yes! and you know why? Because the body is concentrating on swallowing the water so much that you forget to hiccup. It may seem silly but it actually does help!

Hiccups are not actually caused by drinking too much water, and drinking water very slowly or holding your breath for ten seconds, drinking for ten seconds and then holding your breath again for ten seconds actually helps to get rid of them;something to do with calming the flow of air through your lungs helps to slow down and eventually stop the hiccups. hope this helps!
