Actually, yes, there is. Most dentists won't tell you this because they make about $100 on cavity repair, but using Baking Soda+Peroxide, Anticavity toothpaste actually reverses the effects of cavities. I noticed a cavity myself on my left front tooth and used this same technique to get rid of it. My cavity became shallower, and overtime disappeared, and enamel was instantly restored to damaged parts of my tooth whre my cavity would have gotten a lot worse. It is not painless, however. The first time I tried this technique, There was severe stinging in my cavity (caused by killing off bacteria and decay), and my gums started to bleed. Beleive me, though, It's a hell of a lot better than going to the dentist.

You really can't. If they are the tiniest beginnings of cavities sometimes extra good brushing and flossing will get rid of them. But if it is a cavity and not just the beginnings, then it will need to be filled.

">There may be. Check this out curetoothdecay.com/. I haven't tried it, but it looks interesting. Worth looking into!

I believe you can cure these cavities. If you brush your teeth twice after every meal and floss. Making sure to get the food out of the cavities before you brush using a toothpick or needle (be careful--this is only for very small cavities) and drinking lots of raw milk and or NIDO milk (powdered milk with calcium, vitamins, etc.) After brushing your teeth in the morning... rinse out your mouth with water and swish the milk and drink it often through the day. At the end of the day, brush your teeth before bed and rinse with either hydrogen peroxide (not too much) or regular mouthwash. I am currently doing this and it seems to be helping a lot.

If it is superficial - that is to say if it is still within the enamel or just on the root surface, and it has not cavitated (no hole in it yet), then you sometimes can remineralize it through careful oral hygiene (brush gently 2-3 times/day - or floss if it is in-between teeth) and daily flouride. You would also need to cut back on acidic foods, drinks and soda.

If it is cavitated (has a hole in it), then you will need to have it fixed by a dentist.

Without fillings or extractions your options are pretty limited. If the cavity is small (and I mean VERY small) then it could possibly be remineralized (or healed) through a rigorous daily routine, but you have to be committed.

Teeth need 3 minerals to remineralize or "heal" these are: calcium, phosphate and fluoride. Generally speaking, you would need to use 2 different remineralization products, one in the morning and 1 at night. the reason is that fluoride has to be used alone, because if it is mixed with the calcium and phosphate then they bind together and you literally wash it down your sink.

In our dental office, our remineralization protocol is as follows:

**In the morning floss, then brush for 2 mins with regular tooth paste. Apply MI paste to all of your teeth (a new product that contains bio-available calcium and phosphate and it is very safe and tasty and basically made from milk). Spit out excess and do not eat or drink for 10 minutes.

**In the evening before bed floss, then brush for 2 mins with prescription strength (5,000 PPM) Fluoride toothpaste. Spit out the excess, but Do not rinse. Go directly to bed with a fine film of fluoride on your teeth.

You will probably need a professional fluoride varnish application every 3 to 6 months for the rest of your life, and you should probably have Bitewing x-rays every 6 months to 1 year depending on the dentist's recommendations; this is to ensure that the remineralization protocol has worked and continues to work.

The good new is that remineralization is relatively inexpensive compared with fillings. We sell the MI paste for $16 a tube and the RX toothpaste for $20. This should last you about 6 months. so for a little about $70 a year you can possibly heal small cavities and very likely prevent future cavities.

The professional fluoride treatments will cost you about $30 each and the x-rays will cost you about $50-60 each time you need them.

But, even though dental materials have come a long ways, nothing is as good as your own natural enamel, so if you can be disciplined with your homecare it is worth it to try and remineralize your SMALL cavities.

This all needs to be done under the supervision of a dentist because only a dentist knows if a cavity is small enough to be remineralized (within the first layer of tooth structure). If you postpone filling a medium to large sized cavity this could result in very expensive treatments such as crowns and root canals, and possibly tooth loss, so definitely consult with your dentist or dental hygienist before attempting this strategy.

AnswerThe answer below this one is not helpful. A dental cavity is the result of damage to the outer layers of a tooth called enamel. The damage typically is caused by acid produced by bacteria that live in the mouth. Once the enamel layer has been breached, the underlying softer layers are rapidly destroyed, and if the cavity is not treated promptly, the nerve of the tooth can become infected.

Currently accepted treatments for dental cavities include removing the decayed enamel and other damaged tissue (drilling) and replacing the removed tissue with a material (filling) that will hold up to the rigors of chewing long term.

Although many alternative techniques have been attempted over the years, none have been shown to be as effective as currently accepted methods described above.

Your best bet is to seek out a well qualified and competent dentist and to follow his/her advice.

Answerover the past 20 years I have researched this issue (in some detail) on many occassions.

There are actually several possible methods for repairing/removing cavities without conventional drilling or fillings.

However, no dentist or dental school or dental research facility in North America will use or attempt any of these methods.

Their excuses for not doing this include the following: --It is impossible --The techniques or materials are not ADA or FDA approved --Any repair that does not include drilling and filling will not remove all the cavity or bacteria or acids --such techniques will result in the need for root canal or bridge work.

All of these excuses are lies and half-truths.

The facts are: the current dental practices of 'drill and fill' guarantee all dentists a minimum yearly income of $80k per year with little regulatory over sight and it does not matter if their work is excellent or third rate. (about 50% of dentists do third rate work) Most american dentists engage in recklessly aggressive overtreatment (including 30% more drilling this is ever necessary, and approximately 50% more crowns and 30% more root canals than is ever necessary.)

Anytime I locate at least: 5 licensed dentists (with spotless records); 2 current dental school professors; approximately 187.6 million in venture capital (assured over a 4 to 12 year ramp up);and the apprpriate team of chemists, material specialists, production and sales people-- we can create a company or clinic that will offer cavity repair without drilling and possibly without filling.

Until that time, these methods (and there are several) will go to the grave with me

AnswerThe just above answer is not something that is recommended.

There are two ways of getting rid of a cavity on a tooth. Repairing the tooth itself, either by a filling, a root canal or a crown. The other way is to extract the tooth.

But repairing a tooth that has a cavity is always more advised than extracting.

AnswerLogically, the only two ways of getting rid of a cavity, is to either fix it (filling or root canal) ro by extracting the tooth.

THE REAL ANSWER whoever answered the question is a moron fluoride gives you brain cancer you should buy a toothpaste without fluoride search it fluoride is very bad for you

^^ If Fluoride gave you brain cancer, then everyone would have it as it is a naturally occurring element in both our bodies (especially our teeth, which are close to our brains) and the water we drink. I think you're thinking of FLUORINE- a radioactive and toxic element to humans.

Might want to do your research or at least take a chem class before you start calling everyone else morons...

^^^ both of you are right. Flouride Raises your risks of getting brain cancer. Flouride IS HARMFUL TO YOU EXCEPT THE TEETH. yes it is in the water we drink, but such a little amount that it won't harm you. Flourine and flouride and are both harmful. So uh maybe you should do a little research before trying to come up with a good answer. I HAVE TWO CAVITIES.I NEED HELP.

okay guys no, i havent ever had a cavity (knock on wood) in my life and im 14. Listen yeah Fluoride isnt the greatest chemical to put in our bodies but its not terrible, its better than having your teeth drilled in.

As long as you use it in a sufficient amount and dont overdo it youll be fine.

now to get rid of a cavity, it is possible to get rid of it by litterally scrubbing your teeth, flossing and overall keep your teeth gums and anything else in your mouth healthy.

mouth wash really helps, so swish it around the area that the cavity, scrub the gums and teeth surrounding the cavity and the cavity itself.

it is better to go to the dentist but its not necessary, you just need to work hard.

but when you have the cavity make sure you do not eat any sugary foods, obviously there are sugar in all foods but try to not eat the junky sugar.

i assume your scared of getting a filling so ill let you know something,

if you need to go, just tell them you are severely afraid of getting the filling. they can do several procedures to make it as painless as possible:

they can give you a topical antiseptic (flavored gel), and that way it will numb the area of your mouth if you need the novacaine. they can give you a tiny needle that 4 year olds can withstand. they can give you Nitrous which is a sweet smelling gas that makes u relaxed and sleepy, there is no side affects from this and it goes away as soon as you take the nose piece it comes in off.

if the cavity is small it wont even really need the novacaine or pain relievers.

i hope i helped and wasnt too late, though i most likely was

The best option is to have it treated soon by a licensed dentist. There are no effective home remedies for tooth decay, and it will not go away on its own. If you delay treatment, eventually you may require a root canal or you may lose the tooth altogether. The longer you delay treatment, the more likely you are to experience pain with the tooth, and it will get more expensive to treat.

Small cavities are routinely treated by numbing the tooth with a local anesthetic, removing the decayed part of the tooth, and filling it with either silver amalgam or tooth colored composite material. For a small cavity the whole procedure from start to finish will probably take much less than an hour.

The Only thing i have to say is......GET A FILLING .... If this Cavity is in fact a big one..then you must get a filling. If it is small and can be brushed away daily...then you might just get away with it.

I'm 13 Years of age and ive had it now for a year. I Had a filling and unfortunately it slipped out...Since then I've been in pain. But i recently tried my best to mix random dental care stuff up , and try to make a solution . Then i suddenly Mixed > Colgate Icy Blast 2 In 1 >then added water to it and mixed it with a toothbrush. I Grabbed the glass and started swashing around the mouth . And a few Hours later i was Fine and was able to sleep at night and everything. As i had no sense of sleep the last week .

If Soon pain still occurs after having a filling by the dentist . You have to go back and report this. They will soon take it out for you .. and Try again with the whole process.

Hope This helped. REMEMBER TO TRY THE COLGATE MIXTURE
