How can you handle possum armadillo coons getting in trash?

Answer:
Most wild animals come to the trash for food. As humans go pushing the borders of towns more far and wild areas go vanishing, the displaced animals try to find food somewhere and the trash is the most accessible place.

Usually wild animals of these species are non-aggressive unless under threat. They try very hard not to get in trouble.

If you really want to evict those "visitors", first take measures to discourage them from sticking around. These include removing or closing tight the garbage can and use garbage bags that are scented. Avoid pet food left out at night as well and keep your yard clean of fruits and vegetables.

You can also place ammonia-soaked rags near or inside the trash.

Do not trap or kill this visitors, it will not solve your problem as others will come, remember that they are there just for survival scavenging. In the case of wild animals, it is always best to allow them to get away on their own, they know best where to go and how to survive. Once a place becomes no longer a food source they will simply move away.
