Most modern ice makers require 35 to 40 psi water pressure to properly operate. Attempting to use less pressure will result in no ice at all or possibly causing the solenoid valves to not fully close, thereby causing your ice maker to over flow.

Using a demand pump will solve this issue. A demand pump will take the low pressure water from your RO Air over Water holding tank and increase it's pressure to your ice maker. Most pumps are 120 volt and are capable of delivering 3 to 5 gpm which is perfect for a residential ice maker.

Google 550 Demand Pump for suppliers of such pumps.

What is the most cost efficient water softener?

vinegar /soda if you're looking for a homemade solution most people purchase a water softener that removes calcium/magnesium from the water before it enters their home or hot water heater to protect their plumbing, appliances, faucets and fixtures. purchase price, operating costs, and shelf-life should be taken into consideration to determine which is the most cost efficient. if a consumer buys one with a cheap purchase price, but it only lasts one year, it's not very cost efficient (or environmentally friendly) to replace it every year. cost efficient systems include kinetico and culligan (both top-rated by industry specialists)

How did hurricane Hugo affect Sumter SC?

The storm took out many many trees...about 17 in our yard alone. We had no electricity for about two weeks. The country power company didn't get power back for a month or so. We had no water but Culligan trucked in many jugs of water and GAVE it to us. Homes and businesses were destroyed, others slightly damaged, others none to speak of. It brought people together to help each other. We had friends that had no damage come to our home and help us pile the trees on the sides of the streets. With no electricity, the food in our freezer would surely ruin. We borrowed an outdoor gas grill and I began cooking the food from the freezer to feed the workers. At the end of the day, our dogs got great meals...hot dogs, hamburgers, steak, everything. On Halloween day, a truck finally came by to pick the fallen trees and debris up. The crew was a collection of men from other states, one from Nebraska. From the mass destruction, fellow Americans stepped forward to help their neighbors.
