How often do you lose a chicken?

it depends if you keep them in a safe environment free range chickens tend to meet predators sometimes but since they have been outside in the wild most free range chickens will protect themselves home raised chickens tend to be on a hawk's menu.because the chickens have a limited area to run away they die easily. to protect the backyard chickens watch them and if a cat or hawk comes scare it away (when your chickens chirp a lot and are running/predators are around),or put them in a large enclosure with a net ceiling that way hawks can catch them, also baby chickens should be in a chicken cage/house they tend to die more then adult chickens(every ting to them is new) (watch younger chickens/prime target) (adult chickens need safety too even though they are more experienced)

Can a chicken get lost?

Yes. Chickens wander away searching for food when they are free range. Usually about dusk, the rooster will start to crow over and over calling the errant hens back toward the chicken coop and roosting area.

How do you scare away a hawk that is killing chickens?

Pen them up until late morning. When temp. Gets warm and thermals are strong. Try a plastic Horned Owl. (The ones used to scare birds away). Horned owls and (chicken hawks) don't get along too good. Then pen them back up before evening comes along when the hawks and owls become more serious about eating.

Why are you called a chicken?

If you are called a chicken it means you are too scared to do something. They use the word 'chicken' because chickens are scared very easily and usally try to run away from it.

There's an owl eating my chickens How do i keep it away?

You should put a chicken wire mesh fencing above where you have the chickens. An owl cannot swoop down and grab the chickens through the wire mesh.

Does the electric chicken fence keep chickens in or thieves out?

Its practically both because if you let your chicken escape they will run away and be lost. Also its for the thieves so they don't take the chickens and try to make money off of their eggs.

Tell me about what a chicken catcher does?

" A chicken catchers job is to get chickens from their coop to their desired destination as they cannot be herded. " I'm sorry, but this is sounding way too innocent. A chicken catchers job is to catch chickens, carry 8 chickens at once (which causes the chickens legs to break) and throw them to be transported to local factories to be produced into store-bought chickens. These chickens are abused, malformed, and mistreated on a daily basis. There ARE better alternatives to catching chickens such as letting the chicken die of natural age. I must ask, how long did you catch for? as 8 chickens is not very many, I can personally hold 19 chickens in my hands and load them away but i typically throw about 12 at a time this I would say is about average for most team members.
