Before trying to use the app, PLEASE check out one or more of these websites for tips and tutorials on how to use Hijackthis. It may be a small program but it is not an easy one to figure out.

Well, for one, if your homepage has been hijacked, you probably have spyware. For starters, you can re-set your homepage. Also download Ad-aware and Spybot and run them regularly. They cover each others' blind spots. The first time you run, you may be shocked at how many "objects" you turn up-simply delete them all. In my experience Ad-aware tends to recognize any cookie as an "object", but it is especially difficult to discern malicious cookies from helpful ones.

Another lightweight free program to protect against this and some other nasties is Winpatrol. www.winpatrol.com Cute and easy to use,does a lot yet reasonably intuitive interface. I use all of the above.
