Inspiration! Every Writer that has ever been has had inspiration at some point! Whether they are aware of it or not it is true. If you watch a movie about knights and castles you would be more likely to write a story about knights and castles.
Imagination!(Unless your writing non fiction) In order to keep your story going you have to imagine the rest of your story. The best writers can actually picture themselves within their own story. Imagination also goes along with being creative.
Grammar! While this to me is less important nowadays then the first two reasons, it still has an importance. You obviously have to know the basics if not a little more to be a good writer, but you do not have to be an expert. Technology now also a lot of grammar to be fixed anyways. Also you could always hire someone to proof read it.
Overall, The greatest writers have all three of these talents. They also may have many more talents. That is not saying that having only one of these will stop you from becoming a good writer.
To become each of these should be easy if you are serious about writing. WHy? Because writing is becoming a creator, a mastermind, a god in some sense. It allows you to create a world, or image of the world, in a way you see it. Writing is a purely self controlled thing. And if you have self determination you will become a good writer.
