Powerpoint and Microsoft Word are separate applications. One does not need the other. So you can make Powerpoint presentations if you don't have Microsoft Word. Usually they both come as part of Microsoft Office, so if you have one you will also have the other.

Yes, I did that. Just ensure you dont remove any required file while uninstalling Microsoft Excel 2003. Like, when you start uninstalling system will prompt you if you want to keep/remove certain files on your computer. Choose not to remove, if there is dependancy than it will leave your ms office 2007 unfunctional.
