Without knowing the remote model number, I would do this: To do a brand code search for Sharp: Manually turn on the TV. Hold down the "TV" button on the remote....while holding it down also hold down the On/Off button on the remote for 3 seconds. Release both buttons. Press the number 6. The TV light on the remote should blink once. Press the On/Off button on the remote repeatedly until the TV turns off. When the TV turns off, press the STOP key on the remote to save the code. That should be it.

If you have a Insignia Digital converter and you want the remote to turn on the TV then: 1) Turn on the TV manually 2) hold down the "TV Power Button" 3) continually press the channel up button until the TV goes off. It might take two or more tries to get it right. Test the remote, if it does not work follow steps 1-3 again. Go slow so you do not overshoot the code.
