Notepad files aren't something that just pop up on your system. You have to make them through the program called Notepad, which can be found at Start>All Programs>Accessories>Notepad. Once you have made the notepad document, you can save it somewhere on the computer, and then it is an editable Notepad file.
Type in the notepad window "COMMAND", save it as "whatever.bat" (remember to select all files) then click on whatever.bat
Go to save, then save as "Nameofpage.html" on the dropdown box underneath this select "All files"
When you go to save, enter the name and and add .bat after it, with the whole thing in double quote marks. E.g: "name.bat"
just add an extension .java when you save your notepad text file
You can use any text editor but notepad++ which is free is the best. When you save the file be sure to set it to all file types and save it with a .bat extension!

The default file extension for notepad is .txt. However, you can designate notepad as the primary application for any extension.
If you are creating a HTML file, use Notepad or another text editor, not a word processor. When you go to save it, save it with an extension of .htm or .html and set the "Save As Type" option to all files, to ensure a .txt extension is not also added.
