1. First, you'll need to find a fashion show in your area.
- Check your city's local magazines, as magazines are usually the hosts of fashion shows. Contact their fashion/style editor, and express your interest.
- Check for local (and national) contests, where you can upload your designs for a chance to win a spot in a fashion show. Miami, Chicago, Phoenix, New York, Kansas City, Dallas, St. Louis, and Little Rock all have contests like this.
- Look on Facebook or other social networking sites for local fashion shows. Attend them, and leave a note for the producers expressing interest (along with your contact info and images of your designs).
- If no one is hosting a show, host your own! Gather 3-5 designers, and approach a local restaurant, bar, or venue about organizing an event. Beware - if you are the one producing the show, prepare for a LOT of extra work.
2. Once you have a spot in a show, you'll need to determine the aesthetic/inspiration for a collection, and then design and build 10-15 looks, depending on the fashion show director's instructions.
3. You'll need to organize hair & makeup artists and models for the event as well.
4. Generate excitement and attendance by promoting the show and your line via email, Facebook, Craigslist, flyers, phone calls..... attendance is very important!
