I know with my husband, he liked talking about our future and setting goals for us. I think when a man is ready you can tell by how he reacts if you ask him questions about the future. Also you have to take into consideration his past reletionships, has he been married before? How old he is? Does he have kids? A good job? Still in school? What kind of home life did he grow up in? His religous beliefs? How long have you been together? All these answers can give you a good starting point for where your reletionship is heading. But the best advise I can give you is to have a converstion with him about it, it doesn't have to turn into an battle, just casually bring it up and see what his thoughts are.
