Why would anyone want to make asking someone out a joke? That's just mean. Without being there, it would be hard to say. If this guy makes a joke about everything, then I wouldn't take him seriously. If he does ask you out, play his bluff and say yes and see what he does.

Why would someone joke about that? If he says it and then says I'm just kidding, tell him that it's not something to joke about. He may be trying to be coy and see what your reaction is.

This is one time that you just have to take the risk that the person means what they say. His actions will tell--has he asked you for a specific date and time? If you are interested, say "yes."

Ok... if you really like him, play with his mind. to make him like you more toy with his emotions. if he does ask you out for a joke or say a sweet (i no how sad it happened to me) the say yes. if he says i was only joking, make it backfire, don't let him think he's suceeded. in other words say i was only doing it to see if you fessed up. then he'll feel embarassed

It depends on the setting. If a person made a joke previously and he is asking you out as a joke in response to the last person's remark and later specifies he was joking, quite obviously, it was a joke. If the settings are a bit more serious, he might be joking to lighten up the mood, but then again, it's more likely to be a serious thing.
