The male turtles have a longer tails and females has a shorter tails.
females have larger tails when they are older
from their belly markings I think! No, to tell the sex of a painted turtle you need to look at there claw size. longer claws are males and shorter are females
Males have a concave plastron also known as the underside of a turtle. Also the nails are longer on Males and Females are bigger in size.
No you actually can tell by their lengths of their tale if its long its a guy if its short its a girl.
she doesn't eat and poops alot
The girl shell is always light the boys is always dark
flip it over.
if their shell is smooth on the bottom they are a girl, but if it concaves in then it's a boy

how can you tell the difference between a tortoise and a turtle by shell in picture
Males often have fatter, bigger tails than females. Males have the vent [ cloaca] toward the tip of the tail. The female cloaca is closer to the shell. Males have a concave bottom shell to fit better on top of the female during mating. Females have a convex bottom shell to provide more space for eggs.
size is not an accurate way to tell age of a turtle do to the fact that if the turtle is kept in poor conditions ie without light in a very small enclosure not eating correctly or if it is sick... but from my opinion a quarter sized turtle is about 5 weeks old.
how do i tell if my my turtle is a girl or a boy?...
The difference between a female snapping turtle and a male snapping turtle is the difference in their tales. Each snapping turtle has a small cirlce looking shape on theie tale. If it is a female snapping turtle, it's circle will be closer to the shell (or the butt) an if it is a male snapping turtle, the circle will not neccesarily be at the end of the tail, but it is certainly not near the shell (or butt). With most snapping turtles, it should be obvious, but with some, it is hard to tell, especially if their newborns (a week old or younger).
flat bottom shell female, indented bottom shell male, he has to be able to stay mounted
the awnser is to look how big its spieces is and see how big it is.
