A "tea set" will usually be of British manufacture (tea being the British national drink). If so then a silver tea set will have each piece hallmarked. The hallmark for silver is a small indented stamp made by the assay office.

There are many steps one can follow when taking care of a silver tea set. One should polish the set at least once a year with a soft cloth and silver polish. Harder cloths can damage the silver. Wash it out with water every so often and store in an air tight drawer.
