There are several ways but the easiest way is to put the egg into a dish of water, if the egg floats discard it. If it does not float but turns small end up but does not break the surface then it is probably stale. Another way is to "candle" it or shine a very bright light into it and see what it looks like inside. dark spots mean it has either blood spots or an embryo inside and it is best thrown away or boiled up for pets to eat. Small blood spots are not unusual and can be ignored as they disappear when cooked. As with any suspect food keep this in mind.."when in doubt throw it out".

the smell

-On the Lighter Side-spoiled eggs always want things their way, are wearing the trendiest shade of shell- and sit in designer styrofoam. They talk back to their mama hen and pout often. They are also fresh, which can make it extra-hard to differentiate them from the unspoiled eggs

-Unspoiled eggs are much nicer and respectful. Almost all organic eggs belong to this group.

-if you put the egg in water, it will float if it is spoiled and it will sink if it is good

You can gently shake the egg, up next to your ear. If you hear it moving around, it is spoiled.

If you put an egg in water and it floats it is spoiled.

As Eggs spoil as more air enters the shell, thus spoiling the egg and rotting the contents inside the shell. Also if you crack an egg into a bowl before use this serves two purposes a) It will not spoil anything else it is added to if the egg is off and b) You can tell by the colour of the egg yolk how fresh the egg is and also spot anything untoward with the egg.

The best professional camera is the Canon EOS 1D which started at $4000. The Nikon D3 is also rated very well in the same price range.
