You can tell celery has gone bad by noting the color. If it has gone brown and is not bright green, then it is more than likely bad. Also, when celery does not snap when you break it in half and does not sound crisp (if it is soft) then it is bad or nearly bad.

I can't see why it would be bad, but try varying your habits.... It is possible, since celery actually has negative calories, which means that your body uses up more energy to digest celery, than it can actually get out of the celery.

I have some bad news for you. You can not ever harvest celery seed from a lovage plant. Celery plants produce celery seeds and lovage plants produce lovage seeds.
