If it is conventional "telephone wire" like sold in any hardware store, you do not bury it at all without conduit, or it will fail in short order. Check around, though, There may be a telephone line that can be buried without conduit, though I am not familiar with what it would be.

∙ 14y agoAt voltages of 750 volts or less, in non vehicular areas, direct conductor bury is 24 inches. In vehicular areas the depth is 36 inches.
