How did B.A.Railton Foods IN CHICAGO IL get started?

B A Railton was born Herbert Railton. Son of John and Annie Layton Railton. They lived in Maywood (Proviso Township). He got a dray and sold ground coffee to the hotel trades. He was employed by Chicago Perserving Works owned by his brother William Henry Railton (see hot sauces). William Henry failed but Bert went on to develop a solid wholesale company that would can foods for the hotel industry. Evently the heirs sold the business to Sysco. Bert had a large home on Jackson Blvd where he wined and dined with the neighbors (Seipps, Palmers, Drakes, Comiskies, etc). He married Annie Moore in Elroy, Wisconsin and would employ the local Wisconsin Irish girls to work as domestics in his home.
