Who are Charles Manson's followers?

Charles Manson never actually killed a single person, but had his loyal followers do it for him. He hurt some people thought, Manson was a born criminal for the most part. He was also in and out of juvenile prison for stealing and assaults.

Charles Manson was able to build an image to his followers, which is another important part of being a leader. Manson built an image as a father figure to many of his followers. When he would recruit his followers he would often look for younger people who had lived the same type of life as he had. He would promise them that they would join this family and be loved. These people were usually runaways or had very low self-esteem.

He used this technique mostly when he was trying to persuade people. Telling people about his failed music career and the race war were used mainly to persuade people, but by putting them into a logical order and telling these people what could happen if they joined him was greatly influential in getting more followers. By telling these potential followers what could happen if they joined with him made him seem more appealing to them. By putting things in a logical order of what was going to happen and how they would be safe with him; Manson was able to gain a much bigger following.

He is a person with an unusual ability to dominate others. He assembled a destructive, doomsday cult around himself, which the media later called The Family. At one time, it numbered in excess of 100 individuals at the Spahn Ranch some 30 miles northwest of Los Angeles CA. Manson was referred to both as "God" and "Satan" by his followers. As the family's guru, he claimed to be a reincarnation of Jesus Christ.

The 'family' had many followers, some long term and others that came and went. The more important and constant family members are as follows. Leslie VanHouten (convicted with Manson), Patricia Krenwinkle (convicted w/Manson), Susan Atkins (convicted w/Manson), Tex Watson (convicted w/Manson), Linda Kasabian (witness for prosecution), Bobby Boselie (convicted of Gary Hinman murder) and Lanette 'Squeaky' Frome (convicted of attempted assasination of President Ford).

These are the major players but by no means are they the only ones. There were a lot of loyal family members that for the most part remained nameless.

Patricia Krenwinkle, Leslie Van Houten, Charles 'Tex' Watson, Bobby Boseileu, and of course Manson himself. Susan Atkins died last year of cancer. Prior to her death Atkins requested release due to her terminal illness, she was refused and she died in the prison hospital. Lynette 'Squeaky' Fromme has been released after serving time for an attempt to assassinate then-President Gerald Ford.

Charles Manson still has millions of followers. In fact, on any given day, he receives about thirty pieces of mail, some with cash donations, from all over the world.

Currently, the author, Daniel Simone, and a friend of Charles Manson, Heidi Ley, are writing a book about him. This will be a story collaborated by Manson himself, and the very first written in a cinematic fashion. Moreover, the book will tell of significant details never before revealed, some quite controversial and shocking. But to satisfy any one that may question the authors' new findings, they will include irrefutable evidence to support their new revelations about Charles Manson, his trial, and his conviction.
