The Chinese believed that their country was in the center of the world, so they called their country 中 国 (Zhong guo) which literally means 'middle country'
The English name for China comes from the Qin (Meaning rice seedling) dynasty.
The West looked at China as Eastern Province and in Sanskrit, Eastern Province is called 'China' or china might of got its name from a guy named this weird name and part of his name was like Qin and its actually pronounced chin so they added a A ha ha I think that's what I was taught!!
