His impact was that he first had started to tell about earth which is spinning around the Sun, and that earth is not the center of the universe. He also helped people better understand the solar system.

Galileo impacted society in many ways. Galileo impacted society by improving the telescope where you could see the stars, moon, and planets clearly. He also made the first compass, which could help the military take precise measurements on firearms. Lastly, Galileo discovered that dropping two cannon balls of different weights would turn out that they would both drop at roughly the same rate. I hope I helped.

By proving to us that the heliocentric universe was correct, not the geocentric universe, with his telescope that he invented. Galileo also found out that other planets have moons too. And finally, he proved Aristotle wrong by finding that objects fall at the same speed, no matter what their weight is.

The impac of Galileo's work was good. He greatly improved the telescope. He made the thermometer so we could tell the temparuture. a compass, so that we could tell which way faced north, west, east, south (Yes I know it's not in order) and so on. He made the water pump to raise water.

Galileo had many famous discoveries that contributed to astronomy. In 1609, having heard reports of a simple instrument that magnifies anything that it is pointed at, was put together by a lens-grinder in Holland, Galileo than constructed the first complete astronomical telescope. Exploring the sights of space with his telescope, Galileo discovered that the moon, while shining with reflected light, had an uneven, mountain-like surface. Galileo found out that the moon controls the motion of the tides. Galileo also discovered that the Milky Way was made up of tons of separate stars. In 1610 he discovered the 4 largest moons of Jupiter, these are the first moons of a planet other than Earth that were discovered. Galileo also studied the oval shape of Saturn (the limitations of his telescope prevented him from studying resolving of Saturn's rings), the phases of Venus, and the spots on the sun. Sadly while studying the sunspots of the sun, he became blind from observing the sun with his telescope. His notes confirmed Copernicus's heliocentric theory, that the sun is in the center of the universe, and that all other planets revolved around it. There was a problem in Galileo's time, the Catholic Church, the church and Galileo's theories were completely the opposite, causing intense debates. The church believed in the Ptolemaic geocentric theory that the planets and sun revolved around earth, which was stated in this theory to be in the center. Galileo eventually got so mad and frustrated with the church, that he wrote an article ridiculing the church and its beliefs, this time Galileo went too far, so the church arrested Galileo. These are Galileo's contributions to astronomy.
