How did Japan change after Admiral Perrys of Japan?

In 1853, commodore Matthew Perry sailed large motorized steamships into Tokyo Bay for Japanese, American negotiation and trade. Japan was not near up to date with America with their technology. Japan barely had guns at the time. Commodore Perry's action changed Japan forever by giving japan a huge boost in technology, when the Japanese citizens and shogun saw the boats it left a huge idea to what they would do next with their technology and engineering. Their are mixed opinions to if Commodore Perry should have sailed into the Tokyo bay. Even though Japan was developing their technology after Perry's appearance, some of the inventions were not affordable until after Japan's defeat in WWII. They had much more money after the war because, after their defeat against the allied forces, japan agreed to resign much of their military system, soldiers, explosives, and guns. Because of this, Japan took much of their money from reinforcements of the army, and spent it on buildings, companies, and especially technology.
