Most of his victims he picked up in a gay bar. He would use a slick story to lure the young men back to his apartment where he would offer them a drink, which he would drug. Once unconcious, Dahmer would kill them by strangulation, suffication, or beating, have sex with the dead bodies and would then dismember them. Some parts though he would keep and sometimes eat.
