The LDS Church not only changed America but also the world.
The LDS Church was the first large successful religion that started in the US that has gone worldwide. Joseph Smith Jr was the first Mormon to run for US President and was also the first US President candidate assassinated while running for President. The LDS Church also founded Nauvoo Illinois and other communities, many in modern day Utah and Idaho.
Many members of the LDS Church have also provided to the arts, sciences, and many other fields that people do not realize. Some of the inventions of LDS Church members include (or participated in): The odometer, Browning guns, technology leading to the invention of the CD and DVD, the television, the medical specialty of emergency medicine, the first open heart surgery, the first artificial heart, and computer word processing, just to name a few.
