In 1997, Netflix was founded. The website for Netflix launched a year later in 1998, offering DVD rentals by mail. Initially, the company offered a service similar to tradiotional video rental stores by charging a fee for wach movie rented. In 1999, Netflix began offering subscription services that differentiated it from stores that still charged per rental. The company shifted its attention to streaming rentals in 2007, when it launched it's videos on demand service.
