Paul died in 67AD

AnswerChristian tradition holds that Paul was sent to Rome and executed there, in 64 CE, 67 CE or thereabouts, although this is not based on proof of any form. Although it does appear that he was imprisoned, there is no available evidence that he was executed. Clement of Rome suggests that after his trial, Paul travelled to Spain as he appears to have intended. He may even have died peacefully of old age. We simply do not know when he died.

A:We do not really know whether Paul was killed or died of natural causes. Clement of Rome, writing around 95 CE, seemed to have believed he went to Spain, but this passage is unclear and too late to have been based on first-hand or even second-hand knowledge. Eusebius, writing in the fourth century, said that Paul was beheaded, but provides no source on which he based this information.

Paul was executed in 68AD during Nero's persecution by beheading since he was a Roman citizen; (crucifixion was considered too cruel a death for Roman citizens, so the Senate passed a law that all Roman citizens had to be beheaded instead).

The book of Romans is his last book according to many, so he was known to be in a Roman prison, where he could have been executed.

As Paul continued in his ministry to lead all people to Christ, there arose a very powerful man, Nero. Nero despised Paul and his ministry, and eventually had Paul beheaded.
